Thanks to our loyal patients, we are celebrating 50 YEARS in the Middlesex and Shoreline communities!
Founded in 1966, Middlesex Eye Physicians has grown to be the area's most experienced, complete eye care provider. Initially MEP started as a "solo" ophthalmic practice growing to include the five ophthalmologists and one optometrist we have today. Our team is dedicated to providing the highest quality service in a professional, caring environment. Throughout our 50 years of service our mission has remained the same: to provide comprehensive eye care for adults and children including routine examinations, the latest in refractive surgical techniques, up to date laser assisted surgeries, medical and surgical treatment of eye diseases, cosmetic services, and a full service optical department for glasses, sunglasses, contact lenses, and more.
When visiting Middlesex Eye Physicians your first stop will be at the front desk where a professional staff member will verify your appointment, update your information, scan your current insurance card and photo ID.
If an effort to go paperless, we now have tablets that we ask all patients to check in on. Our staff is always helpful in assisting our patients with inputting the correct information on the tablet. If we have your email, we also send you a link 2 days before your visit so you can update and fill out your information at your convenience and it will expedite your check in process in office.

What should I expect from a routine eye exam?
One of our experienced clinical staff will obtain all initial medical and eye information. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, you will be asked the age of your current prescription. Please be sure to bring in your contact lenses. Your medical exam performed by a Middlesex Eye Physicians ophthalmologist or optometrist requires dilation (drops used to enlarge your pupils). Once dilated, you will see the physician for the medical portion of your exam. Please allow up to one hour for a routine exam. When other medical eye conditions are present, your exam time may be longer.
All emergencies are placed with the first physician available. Depending on the nature of the problem, other tests may be necessary.
When finished with your eye examination, please visit our optical department for your printed eye glass prescription. Our full service optical department is happy to assist you in choosing your new glasses or scheduling of your contact lens fitting or re-fitting. Our licensed opticians specialize in the fitting of glasses and contact lenses.
