Cataract

There are different types of cataracts, but the most common cataract is age-related. As we get older, the natural lens inside our eye becomes cloudy causing blurred vision, which cannot be corrected by glasses. Some patients will see halos around lights, suffer from glare at night or in bright sun, or other visual disturbances. This is a naturally progressing eye condition, and nearly everyone reaching the age of 60 and older will get cataracts. In fact, cataract surgery is the most common surgical procedure performed worldwide!

LASIK Laser Vision Correction

A future without dependency on glasses or contact lenses can be yours. Imagine being able to enjoy all of life's activities such as hiking, skiing, swimming, biking, and many others without the burden of glasses or contacts. Consider daily activities such as looking at the alarm clock, showering, or picking out an outfit without the hassle of contacts or glasses. If you have a busy lifestyle like most of us or are experiencing discomfort from wearing contacts or glasses, it is time to consider LASIK Laser Vision Correction.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is often called the "silent thief of sight." It is a disease of the optic nerve, which is the part of the eye that carries the images we see to our brain. The optic nerve is made up of many nerve fibers and when damage to an optic nerve fiber happens, blind spots develop. It usually occurs with no pain and so gradually that you may not know you have lost any vision until it has fully progressed. At that point, you cannot get the lost vision back. This is why it is extremely important to have regular comprehensive eye examinations after the age of 40. These exams test for glaucoma and other eye diseases to stop them in their tracks.

Dry Eye

Everyone will likely experience the symptoms of dry eyes at some point in our lives. Blinking replenishes our tear film providing the moisture eyes need. The prevalence of electronic devices has resulted in a decrease in blink rate. Red, itchy, sandy, gritty, burning, and tired eyes are some of the more common complaints. Excessive tearing is also a sign of Dry Eye disease, often a result of poor tear film quality. Many dismiss and accept these symptoms as “normal”. This is an incorrect assumption. Though dryness can be transient, it becomes problematic and potentially vision-threatening when it persists into Chronic Dry Eye disease.
