Kristy G. Mascarenhas, M.D.Kristy G. Mascarenhas, M.D., received her B.A. with distinction in Spanish from Yale University, then subsequently graduated from New York University School of Medicine in 2006. After an internal medicine internship at Georgetown University Hospital, she completed her ophthalmology residency at New York University/Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital.

She then returned to Yale University for a glaucoma fellowship, where she became the second eye surgeon in Connecticut to be trained in Trabectome glaucoma surgery. Trabectome is the newest advance in glaucoma surgery for poorly controlled glaucoma. Because of this extensive study, Dr. Mascarenhas has become a respected and well-known glaucoma specialist in Connecticut. In addition to her work as a glaucoma specialist, Dr. Mascarenhas is interested in imaging of the optic nerve, as well as the impact of glaucoma and its treatment on patients’ quality of life.

She is a member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and Alpha Omega Alpha - the medical honor society.

 In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading mystery novels, and making jewelry.
