A person with low vision, due to a severe visual impairing disorder, may see the world through a film-like
haze or a narrow tube.
A person with low vision often has difficulty performing routine visual tasks such as reading, writing, driving, watching television, and distinguishing faces or objects. Unfortunately, wearing glasses does not help this impairment.
Optical devices such as magnifiers, glasses with microscopic bifocal lenses, telescopes, electronic reading aides, and computer enhancement systems can restore some sight to help a low vision patient.
We have a low vision specialist in our office that can work one on one advising the patient in visual aides.
