Elwin
G. Schwartz, M.D.
received his undergraduate degree from Muhlenberg College in Allentown,
Pennsylvania. He obtained his medical degree from Cornell University
in 1976. After completing an internship in internal medicine,
he subsequently completed his residency in ophthalmology at the
Albany Medical College in New York. Dr. Schwartz joined Middlesex
Eye Physicians in 1982 and currently serves as its President.
In addition to his practice at Middlesex Eye Physicians, Dr. Schwartz
has served on the Executive Board of the Connecticut Society of
Eye Physicians for over a dozen years and is presently the past
president of this statewide society. He has been honored by "Who's
Who Among Executive's and Professionals" several times. He
has served as the Medical Director for the National Ski Patrol,
the Connecticut Special Olympics, and The International March
of the Living. Dr. Schwartz was the Director of Ophthalmology
for the XIII International Winter Olympic Games held at Lake Placid,
New York. He has published over a dozen articles relating to medicine,
and has recently completed a chapter for publication in an upcoming
ophthalmic textbook. He has lectured both within the continental
United States and Puerto Rico. He enjoys practicing general comprehensive
ophthalmology and the challenges it brings.

Elizabeth
A. Rocco, M.D.
graduated Magna Cum Laude from LeMoyne College, Syracuse, New
York. She attended Upstate Medical Center there and received her
medical degree with honors in 1979. Her ophthalmology residency
was at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia from 1980-1983, where
she served as chief resident. Dr. Rocco is currently a partner
in Middlesex Eye Physicians, having joined the practice in 1984.
She is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and
currently serves as an examiner for the board exam in pediatrics
and external eye disease. She is a Fellow of the American Academy
Of Ophthalmology and member of the Connecticut Society of Eye
Physicians and Middlesex County Medical Society. She practices
general ophthalmology but particularly enjoys pediatric and geriatric
populations.

Roger
D. Luskind, M.D.
graduated with honors from Yale University with a B.A. in history.
Subsequently, Dr. Luskind received his M.D. degree from the New
York University School of Medicine. Following a one year
internship in internal medicine, he completed a residency in ophthalmology
at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine,
Bronx, New York. Dr. Luskind then did a cornea/external
disease fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. After
completing his training, he spent several years as a clinical
assistant professor at the University of South Florida School
of Medicine with an appointment at the James A. Haley VA Hospital
in Tampa. Dr. Luskind joined Middlesex Eye Physicians in
1991 bringing his expertise to problems of the anterior segment
of the eye, contact lens difficulties, corneal transplants and
cataract surgery, as well as general ophthalmology. Dr.
Luskind is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology
and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He
has received advanced training and certification in a variety
of laser modalities for laser vision correction surgery.
Presently he serves on the Board of Prevent Blindness Connecticut,
which is headquartered in Middletown.

Peter
A. Shriver, D.O.
received his medical degree in 1985 from
the University of New England, and became board certified in
Ophthalmology in 1994. He specialized in cornea and refractive
surgery, and has primarily dedicated his practice to refractive
laser procedures. He is one of a select few eye surgeons who
have received full fellowship training in surgery of the cornea,
the external window of the eye, and refractive surgery, which
corrects the eye’s ability to focus. During his fellowship at
the University of California, California College of Medicine,
Dr. Shriver was selected as the Beckman Laser Fellow at the world
renowned Beckman Laser Institute, recognized as one of the world's
premier centers of biomedical laser research. Dr. Shriver took
part in the original FDA trials for LASIK approval. Since 1991,
Dr. Shriver has been an invited national lecturer on the Excimer
laser and laser vision correction. Dr. Shriver routinely teaches
and proctors other Ophthalmologists in basic and advanced techniques
in LASIK and other refractive procedures. He is a member of numerous
medical and ophthalmic professional organizations including the
American Academy of Ophthalmology, International Society of Refractive
Surgery and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Shriver has performed over 10,000 LASIK procedures. He has
treated many VIP's, from fellow eye doctors, and surgeons, Hall
of Fame athletes, Special Forces personnel, news anchors, and
members of his own family. Dr. Shriver and his wife have both
had LASIK.

Dr. Raji Mulukutla
is the newest member of the Middlesex Eye Physicians team, but she has been practicing in the Middlesex County for the past 11 years. During that time she has hone her skills as a comprehensive ophthalmologist and a state-of-the-art eye surgeon.
She received her B.A., as well as a Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, and is a 1989 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Raji completed her ophthalmology residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia in 1994. Inher final year, she served as Chief Resident, and was commended for her “academic achievement, leadership, and clinical excellence”.
Dr. Raji is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians, and the New England Ophthalmologic Society. In addition, she serves on the governing body of the Middlesex County Medical Association.
Dr. Raji is a senior attending surgeon at Middlesex Hospital, where she is serving as the Chief of the Ophthalmology Section, and is on the staff at Constitution Eye Surgery Center. She has a special interest in cataract surgery, as well as evaluation and treatment of glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.

Robin M. Segal, O.D.
attended Tufts University for her undergraduate studies. In 1997 she earned her optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1996, poster presentations were displayed at the Association of Vision and Research in Ophthalmology on the field of diabetes. Dr. Segal co-authored and conducted this research with her Professor of Immunology, Dr. Steven Kovery. From 1995-1997, Dr. Segal was a member of the Clinical Honors Program. Internships were completed at the veteran’s hospital in Baltimore, Maryland and Newport Naval Hospital in Rhode Island.
Since graduation Dr. Segal has been practicing primary eye care with a special interest in diabetic eye disease and refractive surgery co-management. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and Connecticut Association of Optometrists

Malcolm
Gorin, M.D.
was the founder of Middlesex Eye Physicians. After graduating
from Wesleyan University, he received his medical degree from
the University of Rochester. He then interned at the University
of Virginia, after which he joined the U.S. Public Health Service
where he served for a time as a medical officer with the U.S.
Coast Guard. He did his ophthalmology training at the University
Hospital in Baltimore.
In 1966 he moved to the Middletown area and started a solo ophthalmology
practice. Over the years a number of very talented ophthalmologists
joined his practice, creating Middlesex Eye Physicians. In the
past Dr. Gorin has served for over twenty years as chief of ophthalmology
at Middlesex Hospital and for a time had the privilege of being
president of its medical staff. He is a diplomate of the American
Board of Ophthalmology and has been a member of the clinical faculty
at the Yale School of Medicine.
He retired from practice in December 1999, but after a time found
that he missed the practice of ophthalmology and caring for patients.
In November 2001, he decided to return to part time office practice.
He is currently seeing patients in the Middletown office.
